Rebirth of Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen.
The Jazzhus Montmartre was in the 1960’s and 70’s visited by legendary jazz performers like Ben Webster, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon and many other great jazz musicians.
The Danish Jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky and the entrepreneur Rune Bech, have been working since 2009 to rebirth the Jazzhus Montmartre after 34 years in silence.
Now in May 2010, the legendary jazz club is prepared to receive jazz lovers and jazz musicians from all over the world. The founders, Niels Lan Doky and Rune Bech, have raised the club through donors, and the club will be operated as a non-profit activity.
The originators of the project, has set up 8 principles guidelines, to insure that Jazzhus Montmartre shall be one of the prime jazz clubs in the world.
Beside from listening to world class jazz, the guests will also be able to enjoy Italian quality food and wine in the cafe of the jazz club. A cafe which is operated by the Michelin awarded restaurateur, Elvin Milleri.
The first artist to enter the scene at Jazzhus Montmartre, is the legendary drummer Jeff “Tain” Wats, together with a leading Danish/Swedish All-Star-Band.
