Relocating to Copenhagen

RELOCATING TO COPENHAGEN

If you are relocating to Copenhagen permanently, there are quite a few practicalities to keep in mind before packing your bags and coming to Copenhagen.

First, there is the challenge of finding a place for you and your family to live. As the situation is right now in Copenhagen, there is quite a shortage of affordable housing, which means that finding a place to settle in Copenhagen can be quite troublesome – even more so, if you are still residing in your country when apartment hunting.

Our best advice in this situation is to use your best judgments when communicating online or over the phone with property owners, as there unfortunately are some fake ads on various accommodation websites and never to wire any money until you have seen the apartment and signed a contract. Otherwise, you can stick to the professional companies renting our apartments, but the prices here are normally higher.

Most of the apartments we manage are normally only available for shorter periods – normally up to six months – and our guests are normally a mix of tourists or people coming to Copenhagen for work. For example foreign consultants working a few months in Denmark. However, we are also experiencing an increasing amount of clients using our services during a relocation process, so they can be quite sure to have a place to stay for the first few months of their new lives in Copenhagen.

Alternatively, there are quite a few dedicated relocation companies in Copenhagen, which help foreigners and expats moving to Copenhagen. These companies can also help you with the practicalities such as registering your stay with the authorities, general paperwork or perhaps even finding you a job.
